NARS Nail Polish
Iconic Colour. Nailed.

Words & Images by Kate Wotherspoon

I’ve always been a fan of NARS. I think it all started when my sister brought home a beautiful shimmering pink blush called Orgasm. Maybe it was the blunt title of the blush that made me look into the brand further… I mean, no one else was naming their product with such a sexy innuendo… Then I looked further into their collection of lipsticks, eye shadows and nail polish and soon found my makeup drawer housing names like Deep Throat, Super Orgasm and Rated R… Don’t worry, I wasn’t 14 at the time or anything….

“When I created NARS, I was either going to name them with numbers or give them intelligent names. I wanted to give the products a character and an identity. The names make you dream and transport you to another place. It gives the colours a fun twist.” – François Nars

Retro Child

Words by Kate Wotherspoon

I was playing dress up on polyvore again and came up with this handy dandy collage. Lately, I seem to gravitate towards plaid, sweatshirts and chucks. Maybe it’s the summer air telling me I should be camping in my latest outfits or maybe it’s the 80s and 90s inspiration all over the streets, but i’m into it. Chill, easy, and most importantly, comfortable.

I think my must haves out of this collage would have to be the Zara shorts, I purchased them in black and live in them now, and the Kenzo tiger sweatshirt. I’m also coveting the leather vest and mini leather backpack. I’ve been on the search for a cute little leather backpack! The style I want seems to impossible to find, any suggestions?!

Check out my inspirational photos below! Thanks for stopping by! @theparallelroad on instagram, twitter and polyvore.

Busy Bee in the Hot City

Summer has finally arrived in Vancouver and I’ve been trying to soak up every last bit of sunlight. The “summer” here seems to be an average of 6 weeks long each year so you can imagine you have to “Seize the Day” as much as possible.  This past week I’ve been lucky to interview some talented individuals and I’m looking forward to sharing the fashionable world of Tyler Udall, Renee Palkovsky and Deanna Palkowski to you all.

I’m now off to read in a park, and probably nap in this gorgeous weather before my dance rehearsal tonight.

Catch me on twitter, @KeightW and Instagram for daily updates!

Enjoy the photos below of my past few days and give a listen to some songs that are currently on my playlist – repeating over and over… (*Thumbs up!*)

At the new Killjoy in Yaletown with Mary-Elyn Keenan!

Incredible Show. “Nothing Sticks” left me speechless. Peter Chu and Jillian Meyers never fail to go above and beyond. A definite must-see!

When In Doubt…Wear A Jewelry Party

Dannijo SS12

No matter where you’re headed, you can never go wrong with an arm, hand or necklace party. I am instantly drawn to anything shiny, enjoy wearing numerous rings, and layer necklace upon necklace – just better that way. It also helps make your outfit completely  unique no matter what the occasion.  I’ve chosen some of my favorites from Dannijo and Delfina Dellatrez. They’re all must-haves!

Dannijo Bailey Necklace

Mr Dannijo Mona Lisa Ring (This is so cool, I love a little dangle on a ring – so unexpected)

Dannijo Levi Necklace

Delfina Delettrez

This would look great paired with some jeans (torn or clean) and a simple white T.  At the same time, you could totally rock it with a sexy black or cream sheath dress and a gold skull statement ring. Living!
